Thomas Hoepker
Thomas Hoepker was born June 10th, 1938. He is a German photographer known for his photojournalism. His photographs consist of vivid colours and rich tones. Thomas travelled to many different places including Ethiopia, Peru, Italy and the USA. He studied art history and archaeology at Göttingen University from 1956 to 1959. During the horrific tragedy of 9 11, he was driving to Queens, and during his journey he spotted the black cloud of smoke. Taking advantage of this one-time opportunity, he captured 3 photographs of the tragic event across a river, with a group of people hanging out in the foreground. However, a curator from one of the museums came to visit Thomas, and he was in awe at the contrast between the people in the sunshine and the tragic events in the background.
