Impressionism is an art movem, ent created by Claude Monet and other Paris-based artists from the early 1860. Impressionist artists were not trying to paint a reflections of real life, but an 'impression' of what the person, light, atmosphere, object or landscape looked like to THEM. Impressionism art style occurs when an artist captures the image of an object as someone would see it if they just caught a glimpse of it. They paint the pictures with a lot of color and most of their pictures are outdoor scenes. The Artist will use bold Brush Strokes and thick short strokes of bright colour to build the colour and contrast of a piece of work. Through research adn investigation I have learned that there is no use of black, apparently pure impressionism avoids the use of black paint. Also paint is not mixed. This will create bolder colours and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the painting. Lighting is also a very important factor when it comes to impressionism as this artwork can be highly influenced by photography as most pieces are painted outdoors. Impressionism artist will paint everyday life and sometimes the artists are influenced by Japanese prints such as the great wave off kagukai.
