The activity I am going to undertake is looking at incorporating influences from the world today (2020) such as the 2020 Global Pandemic into the artwork. The skills and techniques I will explore are superflat colour and painting. I will be using artist references and other ideas from my other portfolio and looking at how I can develop it out and make it more interestingstarted to further investigate Takashi Murakami's flowers and see what other ways I can study these flowers. I wanted to draw them in black ink to strip them back and look at them simplistic point of view. As I have been studying Murakami's work, I have been researching the colours he uses to create the flowers in his art work. From the research I have conducted, Murakami uses white, yellow, pink, red, lavender, purple, blue, black, orange and green. These are all primary, secondary and tertiary colours.
I have decided to draw some cartoon/ anime characters on top of the flowers as a form of sample to show what I could potentially create in my final outcome. I used roughly the same colours that Takashi Murakami used to show how I wanted to show development within my own artwork.
For the sample on the left, I wanted to show my development of my chosen artist by incorporating the colours they used into my final piece sample. And this shows how i can develop my work out further and enhance my creative techniques. I believe however that I need to improve on my proportions when I am drawing as I will then be able to draw people ore accurately. To create this sample I decided to draw and colour the work in with highlighters to make bright and bold colours.
For the sample on the right I used the same image of the girl wearing a face mask. I painted her using black water colour paints and the flowers were drawn using black pen and Copic Markers to create a bold and bright colour. If there was anything I will fix or change it would be the proportions of the girl and I would also use some darker colours to make the work flow better.
