Inge Jacobsen was born in Galway, Ireland. She attended Kingston University, London. There she studied Photography. She has worked as a professional artist since graduating in 2011. Jacobsen’s work has been exhibited from London to New York. In 2012, she was invited to exhibit alongside legendary YBA Sarah Lucas at Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio Shop as part of the ‘Selling Sex’ show.
Inge Jacobsen uses commercial imagery and thread to put her own spin on vintage advertising. She uses embroidery to alter the pictures, which Inge has called this process ‘hijacking’. Recently Inge has enjoyed working on a commission for American Express, who wanted an original perspective on 3 of their classic cards to use in a social media advertising campaign. Inge uses embroidery in her fine art pieces by creating realistic pieces of work using sewing and embroidery. These pieces of art use bold colors and are very lifelike.
